The laboratory develops its activity in several research lines, namely:

  • Study of the food component of extensive animal production systems;
  • Use of markers for estimation of ingestion and digestibility of grazing animals;
  • Use of in vitro analytical techniques to determine the nutritional value of feedingstuffs
  • Study of nutritional factors in feedingstuffs;
  • Study of lipid metabolism and metabolism of cholesterol in particular in monogastric animal models.

The laboratory supports the practical component of disciplines of the degree in Animal Science and technology, the master's degree in Veterinary medicine, the master's degree in Zootechnics and undergraduate degrees, masters and doctorates.
