Research in Plant Pathology in the University of Évora is mostly done in Laboratory of Plant Virology and Laboratory of Mycology, both belonging to the network of ICAAM laboratories.

Research carried out at the Laboratory of Mycology  aims to study plant pathogens, including epidemiological and molecular studies, host-pathogen interactions, development of new techniques for prevention and control of plant diseases, such as the search for natural antagonists and development of measures to induce protection in plants.

Research carried out in Laboratory of Plant Virology  aims at the epidemiological and molecular study of viruses, the development of rapid and sensitive techniques for the diagnosis and development of plant protection techniques. The Laboratory of Plant Virology has been involved for decades in olive clonal selection programs, carrying out screenings of the main viruses that affect this crop.

These laboratories also provide diagnostic services  as well as support for farmers in the field of plant pathology.
